Happy Christmas! As another year seems to come rapidly to a close, I have spent some time reflecting with the Alium team as to what they think have been the big challenges in the last 12 months. The common consensus is that 2014 has been one not of survival, but of growth and change. Certainly we tend to get a very early impression of market dynamics and the last 12 months have been very different from the years of recession that preceded 2014.
In the majority of sectors, we are seeing a sustained recovery as businesses seek to become more flexible in their strategies, thinking, products and services. This is also great news for employment opportunities and for the experienced and highly capable interim community whom provide expertise to companies looking to meet these new demands.
So change is the key word as we look to the New Year. Be under no illusion that the pace of change is still a challenge for many organisations, but we must embrace it fully. Look at the referendum in Scotland for example. Although the UK “stayed together”, all parties now see that the political and constitutional landscape has changed forever and they have no choice but to get in line with the next and perhaps natural evolution of the constitution.
So my message for 2015 is to be brave, adapt and embrace the demands of the market. And, naturally, don’t be afraid to ask for help!
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
